"I began my career in web design with a journey of education in computing and IT, today I'm lecturing in computer games and multimedia at the School of Engineering and Information Technology at FedUni."
As a program leader for the Technologies for Empowering People for Participation in Society (TEPPS), he researches and designs simple, cost-effective technologies to assist people with disabilities. Grant is an active researcher and presents his work globally, encouraging people to take pro-active choices to enhance their participation in society and improve their overall quality of life.
"My area of research is into assertive technologies, software and hardware platforms for people in need. Through the program, we developed Scenari-Aid, a free online social simulator that helps people who stutter become more confident with dealing with commonly encountered social situations.
We use technology to improve the quality of life for people who stutter, or have developmental disorders, stroke recovery, assisting those with social anxieties, assisting the unemployed to learn interview skills and assisting people from non-English speaking background to improve their English literacy skills.
What I like about working at FedUni is the fact that everybody lends a hand – no matter what, and everybody is open to ideas and it's a very supportive environment.
